Preproduction to begin on “Sleeper Cell”

After spending most of this year focusing on writing, we’re finally ready to make another movie – and it’s about time, considering we shot Schrodinger’s Box about a year ago.  It just played at its last festival over the weekend at Atlanta Shorts Fest, so it’s fitting that we transition into another project at this point.

I spent the summer writing several scripts for shorts.  After reviewing all of them, we have decided to move forward with a twenty page script called “Sleeper Cell,”  which is a story with military themes and a strong leaning in a sci-fi direction, even though it takes place only 5-10 years in the future.

Tagline:Choose Your Reality

Synopsis: Orion’s life flows from one existence to another. In one, he fights in a future war as an elite military operative. In the other, he withers away in a mental institution after committing a horrible crime against his own family. Lost in hell in both worlds, he risks everything to break free and reclaim his family and his sanity. In the end, which reality will he choose – and which one is real?

The shoot is tentatively scheduled for February 2013.  We have a ton of work to do in preproduction from costume to preparation for special effects.  We’ll keep everyone updated with our progress.  In the near future we will have a poster for the film and will be launching a fundraising campaign on Kickstarter or Indiegogo.  Shortly after that, casting will begin.  It’s great to be back!

Official Selection Atlanta Shortsfest

All the festival responses are in and it’s appropriate that Schrodinger’s Box will conclude its festival run in our hometown of Atlanta at the Atlanta Shortsfest, September 14-16.  Since this is a local festival, we can’t resist and will be in attendance.

It’s been a great year so far, but with Schrodinger’s Box having run its course, we are now left with an empty nest and it’s time for a new bouncing baby film.  We’ve been feverishly writing all summer, developing multiple scripts. We will be meeting over the next couple of weeks to narrow the list down to a single film to advance into preproduction.  More details in the next 2-3 weeks!

Official Selection DC Shorts

We are very pleased to announce that Schrodinger’s Box will be screening in its 5TH festival of the year, DC Shorts from September 4-16.  We are still undecided as to whether or not we will attend.  It’s very tempting since this is another shorts only festival, but our work schedules may make it not very worthwhile since we wouldn’t arrive until late Friday night, then would have to fly out on Sunday, potentially before the festival is even over.

It ‘s encouraging that the film continues to be successful on the festival circuit.  Only a couple more responses to go from festivals and Schrodinger’s Box will be coming to the end of its run. Must make more films!

Official Selection Fright Night Film Festival

Schrodinger’s Box has now been accepted to Fright Night Film Festival in Louisville, KY from June 29th to July 1st.  Britt’s second feature film, No Exit, will also screen at the festival in a prime time slot on Saturday night. Since Louisville is about six hours from Atlanta, we are planning to attend…the first one since Dam Short Film Festival.

At this point in the festival cycle for Schrodinger’s Box, all of our submissions have been sent out and we are still waiting to hear from a few more festivals.  It is quickly coming to the time, however, to start planning another shoot.  Since we have opted to focus on a short for our next film, we don’t have a ton of scripts or even script ideas laying around since we are usually working on developing features.  The plan for the summer is to write scripts for several shorts, then do some triage to determine what project to move forward with.  More details to come as the year unfolds…
